How did you get started with cryptocurrency?

I initially got involved in the space when my company ELGroupInternational.com was first approached by our clients and partners to assist them with a blockchain strategy.

As I started to understand the technology better, I started making a few investments here and there – first in side projects being run by people I knew but soon on to serious companies and startups being backed by VCs and other institutional money.

Soon as I got more interested and started by doing my own projects – investing in mining rigs, advising ICOs and eventually starting up my company Almora.io focused on working on all things crypto and building decentralized solutions.

Even though I have made tremendous amounts of money with cryptocurrency – it was never my motivation. I did not get in the crypto space to make money – I already make enough money to retire off my current investments – My real motivation to get so deeply involved with the crypto space is the potential it provides me to make a real difference in the way we live.

I believe cryptocurrencies and blockchain based solutions have the power disrupt the way we do everything. I see an opportunity to play a major role in helping shape the future we all will live in.

As the world moves to blockchain I have currently invested in and helping build companies like Hashgraph.com – which I believe is the future of Blockchain.

I don’t just think about investing in different pre-ICOs but actually play a major role in executing multiple ICOs from companies like Gaze Coin, and Lockchain.co.

Who do you admire most in the industry and why?

I just love all the energy around this space. So many smart people are trying to solve problems in there own way and are doing great at it.

Think about this 10 years ago the 5 biggest companies were all banks – today its all tech companies and if we maintain the rate of growth this industry has seen , crypto will wipe out other forms of payment pretty soon.

How we transact has already been disrupted by technology once and the next step in cycle is blockchain technology – remember cryptocurrency is also based on the underlying blockchain technology – same way we moved from coins to cash to plastic cards – now the world will move to Crypto.

Money is only a means to enable things and acquire services and products . Do you think you should really be paying $3 to your bank every-time you want to withdraw your own money? This is just one of the many problems cryptocurrencies are solving.

I am so confident about this space in general that I am even opening up physical shops like banks which have branches where you can show up and we will set you up with your own crypto wallet online and help you buy your first bitcoin.

Cryptocurrencies are enabling a new way of doing business based on simplified and automated decentralized applications (dApps) to facilitate peer-to-peer transactions and exchanges. Soon every industry and sector we know off will be using cryptocurrencies.

How do you see blockchain technology improving life in the future?

Blockchain technology and dApps have the ability to decentralize power from existing authorities through the use of smart contracts, cryptocurrencies, and asset ownership. This shift will change current businesses and economic and social paradigms. Transaction costs and barriers to entry will be reduced in various industries. The result will likely lead to an increase in economic exchange and prosperity.

The world we live in today is not the world we will live in tomorrow.

My company EL Group is working with governments from countries like UAE and others to put all records on blockchain and Hashgraph. We are dealing with Enterprise companies to deliver private blockchain networks. 5 years from now everything will be on the blockchain – I want to be enabling that.

I think blockchain’s potential is only limited by our collective imagination – the potential is truly endless in terms of what products can be built – every month we are seeing over 2000 new ICOs happening – each solving a unique problem in its own way.

What’s one thing you’ve learned since you got started with digital currency?

Cryptocurrency’s decentralized nature means that it cannot be shut down or manipulated easily. Many people ask why own digital currencies, it’s that simple. We believe in the future and so should you. So we’re going long with Bitcoin anticipating capital will continue to flow as it’s potential is realized.
