Greg Haskell – Co-Founder, Omminni

Greg is a 38 year old father and husband who lives on the east coast. He’s a crypto-obsessed athlete, ocean enthusiast, problem solver, craft beer connoisseur, investor, and co-founder of a crypto-solutions firm called Omminni.

Omminni, the developers of OBXcoin, have created a true utility coin that solves the problems that plague the crypto space and prevent it from being used as actual currency; things like clunky, slow confirmation processes, high fees, and volatility. OBXcoin incentivizes merchants and customers alike with a unique proof of stake process that pays merchants a daily ROI for accepting the coin and compensates customers for fees and taxes paid on their purchases.

What do you love most about digital currency?

I love the endless possibilities of digital currency. On the tech side, crypto technology has the possibility to revolutionize the way companies operate, from smart contracts to secure record keeping to lotteries to education.

On the currency side, it’ll change and simplify the way we store, transfer, and spend money. It’ll send banks into a state of obsolescence. Eventually, we’ll be holding all of our currency on an ultra-secure device with no need to change currency when we travel, no need to worry about the devaluation of the money we hold for political reasons. It’s the future and the future looks bright.

How does a typical work day flow for you?

My work day starts before my feet hit the floor. We’re building partnerships with companies all over the world and time zones are not friends of slumber. I wake up when my phone tells me I need to, answering emails, holding conference calls, and sharing the good news with the OBX community. I eat here and there, get a run in while listening to recorded calls, and spend any time I have left over with my beautiful wife and amazing son.

But…I have no complaints. I can work from anywhere, so I take full advantage, from holding beachside conference calls to answering pressing emails from the golf course. I incorporate work into everything I do, but that’s the schedule of an entrepreneur in 2018.

What are your future goals and aspirations?

My goal is to make OBX as much of a household name as the dollar. When we say OBX is the currency of tomorrow, we’re not kidding. We’re working on merchant relationships that are solidifying that possibility. We live and breath this stuff and it’s exciting.

How do you relax in your free time?

In the free time I have, I run, enjoy time on the beach running around with my son and watching my wife fish (she’s obsessed), eat good food (I’m a total foodie and have no idea how I’m not morbidly obese), drink proper beer, and watch documentaries.

What’s one piece of advice you can share with others?

When I was 12, I asked my father for 20 bucks to go to the movies. He told me I couldn’t just have 20 dollars, but I could certainly earn it. We went to the hardware store and bought a lawn mower. He showed me how to gas it up, gave me the tutorial and I mowed the lawn with the agreement that he’d fire the lawn care guy and I’d make 20 bucks a week.

When I was done mowing, I walked into my dad’s home office and asked to be paid. He gave me a $10 bill. I looked at him confused, and he explained that I had financed the lawnmower and he was the lien holder. I would pay 10 bucks a week, taken out of my pay, until the mower was paid off. I had a few choice words as I was a short sighted kid who still didn’t have the money to go see a movie that night. He calmly said, “look around, Greg. The neighbors have lawns.” I had $100 in my pocket that night and didn’t even go to the movies because I was exhausted, but that’s the best lesson I learned.

That’s a long way of saying: Work. It’s the greatest time to be alive as an entrepreneur and you can have anything you’re willing to work for. So work, work, and work.
