Entrepreneur and business owner, Ian Fernando

Ian Fernando is an online marketer, being in the affiliate space for more than 10 years. He specializes in lead generation and utilizes traffic sources to fulfill needs to advertisers and clients. He has also been seen traveling around the world, using his freedom to enjoy life while also speaking at exclusive conferences in South East Asia. Even though he is roaming, he has tons of experiences in advertising and a wide network of friends.

We reached out to Ian after reading his latest blog post on how to start earning Bitcoin, to get the inside scoop on his industry perspectives.

How did you get started with cryptocurrency?

I actually didn’t really want to get involved and just mature with the years coming. Eventually other affiliates started talking about coins, my brother got 2 bitcoins when they were $2k in price. I saw his gains were pretty easy and I thought to myself maybe I should just start.

I always enjoyed stocks, playing around with it but never full time. I just like how volatile it is and that its just a game based on information and how information is viewed to which the stocks can go up or down.

I was never a day trader, but definitely enjoy watching the news or information and new tech that has been currently been rising about how crypto can change the world. I like the fact that people are now accountable instead of just a bank or a vendor.

The p2p part of the ecosystem is what is very interesting to me and I see the evolution happening in our world.

Even currently right now, there are bitcoin exchange ATM machines here in Manila!

What’s your digital currency investment strategy?

None. LOL.

I’ve been playing around with day trading, which is fun but takes me away from my own business. I didn’t want crypto to be full time nor a business, just a portfolio where I can just watch it grow. The difference from this and stocks is coins are evolving everyday with new coins and new platforms with new ways to use a ledger. It is pretty exciting to see how open source code can literally change how we work.

Currently, I am in the process of just investing in coins I think will have an impact for the long run. I believe crypto will be the way of the future and more and more people are going to have to adapt to it because of its transparency.

So right now, I would rather put my cash in coins that I think are solid and just leave it. I am actually in the process of moving my alt coins to the more stronger coins. I would like to just hold and get new coins without really looking at the graphs every so often.

It almost reminds me my first days of affiliate marketing. Always watching stats and dollars coming in. It was distracting but I have just let it sit.

How do you see blockchain technology improving life in the future?

Accountability. Bitcoin grew out of the 2008 crash and the banks being saved by government. Allowing each action to be recorded in a ledger helps with accountability. The means of no middle person just an action between 2 parties will help create a more trusting network of users.

From social interactions to removing tokens from abusers on social media. Assuring proper contacts and credentials to getting a bank loan. Having all this action in a ledger is accountability. What I do see is this will allow us to also restrict data to big corporations. Soon we will not be a product, but a place of strong network threads.

The exchange of tokens for Bitcoin, to having smart contracts, will allow us to be more diverse than we are currently.

How do you relax in your free time?

Shisha.

I like going out and traveling, the reason why I am currently in South East Asia. Finding new locations to explore and even living in the country for some time gives me a sense of enjoyment. I have been very nomadic, living in cities for a year or 2 then moving on. I can’t seem to stay in one place, the urge to explore is something I enjoy.

What’s your biggest pet peeve about digital currency?

Too many of them are rising, this is good but also annoying. Keeping up with the news is time staking and reading up on new coins to see if I want to participate is also something that takes time away from my regular day to day.

Stated before, I think coins are very lucrative but you need to know and understand a lot of it. Which coin is worth your money to invest and then once invested, watch the news to make sure you can catch the next rise or a dip.

It surely has taken a lot of my time from my own marketing. Soon there will be coins that surpass others in the market and become the backbone for others to climb on. Currently there is just a lot to read about and not enough time to research.
